“Laredo, on His Second Birthday”
I like to go bye-bye
As often as I can
And when I say this word
I wave my little hand.
Sissy is my favorite word
I say it lots each day,
Because I love my little sister
More than I can say.
Outside is where I like to go
So I can run and play
It doesn’t matter if it’s sunny
Or if it’s a rainy day.
Books I like to read
And balls I like to throw
But most of all, I like to make
“Buddin’-buddin’s” go.
At bath time I really
Like to splash and play
And throw bubbles
Every which way.
Koty and Tulsa
are good “bubbas” to me.
Together we make a
Rambunctious three.
Two words I learned
Quite soon are bite and eat,
And cookies and crackers
Are my favorite treats.
I like to ride my horsie
really, really fast,
So long as the juice
In my cup-cup will last.
I’m my Dada‘s little man
And my Mama‘s pride and joy,
To Nana, Papaw, and Granny
I’m their favorite little boy.
Today is my birthday
And now I am two
I’ve learned so many things
but there are more left to do.
Soon I’ll learn to play ball
And to ride a bike.
Then I’ll learn to read my books
And my name I’ll learn to write.
Wait around and watch me;
I’m God’s work in progress
Just forgive me if, along the way,
I make a little mess.
